Privacy and terms
The tool doesn’t ask for your name or email, has no accounts, and doesn’t use advertising or tracking cookies. Your answers are used to work out your results and aren’t stored by us.
Who runs this site

What happens to what you enter
- Your answers (property, electricity use, tariff, roof) are used to do the calculation. Most of it happens in your browser. The answers needed to estimate your electricity use (property type and size, heating, electric car, business type and hours, and your latitude, rounded to about 1 km) are sent to our server for that estimate. They’re used only to answer that request. They aren’t stored, logged by us or passed on to anyone.
- Your location is the exception. When you search for a postcode or place, or drop a pin on the map, the text you typed or the pin’s coordinates are sent to our server so it can look them up. For solar and climate data, the coordinates (rounded to about 1 km) and your roof’s angle and direction are sent on to the services below.
Our server makes these lookups, not your browser:
- postcodes.io, to turn a UK postcode into coordinates.
- OpenStreetMap Nominatim (OpenStreetMap Foundation), to turn a place name into coordinates, and a pin into a place name.
- PVGIS (European Commission Joint Research Centre), for solar and climate data.
To keep the site fast and to avoid overloading those services, the results of lookups may be stored temporarily (up to about 30 days). They are stored against the place that was searched, not against you.
Other services your browser contacts directly
Loading the page and the map means your browser contacts these providers, which receive your IP address and browser details under their own privacy policies:
- OpenStreetMap map tiles.
- cdnjs (Cloudflare), for the map software.
- Google Fonts, for the typefaces.
Hosting, logs and cookies
The site is hosted on Cloudflare, which processes requests to the site and keeps standard technical logs (such as IP address, time and page requested) for security and performance. We don’t try to identify individual visitors from them. The site doesn’t set cookies or store anything in your browser.
Your rights
We don’t knowingly hold personal information about visitors. If you email us, we’ll use your address only to reply. Under UK data protection law you can ask what information we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected or deleted, and complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk).
Terms of use
- The results are estimates, not a quote. They are not financial, energy or engineering advice. Real output and savings depend on equipment, installation, shading, weather, your tariff and how you use electricity. Prices and rates in the tool are indicative and can be edited.
- Get a survey. Before buying, ask an accredited installer to survey your property and quote.
- No warranty. The tool is provided as it is. To the extent the law allows, we aren’t responsible for decisions made using the results. Nothing here limits any liability that can’t be limited by law.
